Managed Grazing & Intensive Silvopasture

Sheep grazing the weeds in the sugarcane fields (May 2022), thereby eliminating the need for any herbicides / or ploughing tools.

Inspired by Alan Savory’s movement and countless farmers we are committed to using regenerative grazing on our farm. This type of grazing systems, which mimics ruminant herd animals in grasslands across the world, is an incredible way of quickly building soils. As White Oak Pastures has demonstrated, raising cows the right way can sequester more CO2e than the animals emit (including their methane emissions).

Our initial trials of managed grazing - also a Drawdown solution - are profound. Our sand (read: beach sand) ground has turned into chocolate brown hued crumbly beauty. And this is in less than a year. We deploy cows, sheep, goats and even camels to transform our soils.

We are also designing silvopasture and intensive silvopasture systems on certain parts of our farm, and we cannot wait for the day when seaweed supplements will become available for us and help bring down cattle emissions by more than 90%.
